The treatment

The hair removal is performed with the Elite iQ laser from the laser manufacturer Cynosure Lasers. The light of the laser acts within the hair follicle: the laser light absorbed by the pigment content of the hair is converted into heat, which damages the matrix cells that are key to hair growth.

The treatment procedure of the device follows the classic method:

proceeding point-by-point, according to the diameter of the handpiece corresponding to the body area
the skin is cooled by blowing air
no direct skin contact with the handpiece

The innovative features of the device allow for personalised treatments by using different laser lights for each area of the body.

Only the person(s) performing the treatment and the patient are allowed in the treatment room during the treatment.

Ability to work, home care

The treatment does not affect your daily lifestyle, but avoiding the sun and using sunscreen thoroughly is recommended for 14 days. Use only razor until the next treatment.

Number of treatments

The hair on the human body has a growing and a resting phase. The energy of the laser is only transmitted to the hair cells that are in the growing phase, destroying them. The hairs in the resting phase fall out after the treatment, but soon grow back. When they enter the growing phase, they can be treated successfully. For this reason, the average number of treatments (except in extraordinary cases) is 4 to 8 sessions per body area, at increasingly longer intervals depending on the rate of hair growth.

During pregnancy
If there is an active infection (bacterial, viral, or fungal) on the skin surface to be treated
A tendency to pathological scarring (keloid)
Diabetes, autoimmune connective tissue disease, immunosuppressive treatment
Epilepsy
Problematic skin symptoms during prior laser treatment
While taking a medicine containing the active substance 13-cis-retinoic acid or within six months of taking it
When taking certain medicines (which increase the skin’s sensitivity to light)
